In celebration of the release of Silent Hill f, one Animal Crossing player recreated their favorite Silent Hill 3 moments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, along with a reproduction of a small scene dedicated to new franchise protagonist Hinako. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been praised for its customization mechanics, which have allowed players to create one-of-a-kind builds, and one fan took the opportunity to bring their two favorite games together in an unexpected way.
The extensive customization tools in Animal Crossing: New Horizons have often been used to create unique island layouts and original designs, ranging from furniture patterns and special outfits to fan-made crossovers between hit pop culture icons. Players have often introduced horror franchises in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the surprise mash-up between Animal Crossing and Silent Hill has quickly caught the attention of fans.
Silent Hill 3 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing fan halloweenvalentine wanted to celebrate the release of Silent Hill f by going back to one of their other favorite games, New Horizons, and building a replica of the Lakeland Amusement Park from Silent Hill 3 with fellow series female protagonist Heather Mason. They originally wanted to play Silent Hill f but got too scared and decided to take a break with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Still aiming to stick with the Silent Hill theme, they built their very own Lakeland Amusement Park, complete with the iconic carousel and Seal of Metatron, and took snapshots of their Heather Mason character exploring the abandoned fun park.
In addition to the main amusement park section, they also shared some photos of Heather exploring other locations from Silent Hill 3 recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The Seal of Metatron and Halo of the Sun were shared by player CrystaLake and helped halloweenvalentine to perfectly capture the vibe of Silent Hill 3 in New Horizons. As a bonus, they also showcased a small torii gate surrounded by bamboo stalks with a Hinako character in the center for an adorable ode to Silent Hill f in the beloved life-sim game.
Thanks to games with immersive customization mechanics, players have the opportunity to create their own exclusive pop culture and gaming crossovers, with the likes of Breaking Bad, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even David Lynch’s Twin Peaks getting remade in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While drastically different in terms of both gameplay and genre, the blend of Animal Crossing: New Horizons with Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill f makes for a truly memorable fan project for members of both communities to enjoy.
